The Big Five, also called the Five Factor Model, is the most widely accepted framework for describing personality. It measures five broad dimensions.
Openness
Reflects curiosity, creativity, and preference for novelty. High scorers enjoy abstract thinking; low scorers prefer practical routines.
Conscientiousness
Predicts organization, dependability, and self-discipline. Higher scores correlate with academic and career success.
Extraversion
Describes sociability and energy. Extroverts recharge through interaction; introverts through solitude. Neither is better.
Agreeableness
Reflects cooperation, trust, and empathy. Highly agreeable people thrive in helping roles.
Neuroticism
Measures emotional stability. Lower scores indicate calmness; higher scores mean greater sensitivity to stress.
Putting it together
The Big Five gives you language to understand how you work best and which environments suit you.
